Is there a cost involved?
There is a $15 per hour session fee. This is in line with all other programs currently active (Nuriootpa, Playford, Salisbury)
Each participant will receive at least one subsidised Driving Instructor lesson with our Instructor prior to joining the mentors. Cost and number of lessons to be discussed at the Forum prior to joining.
How do I book sessions?
We have an online booking system which students are given access to once they've attended a Road Safety Forum and have been accepted into the program. Sessions are released weekly.
Can you collect me from home?
No, the Mentors will not collect from your home. Our sessions start and finish at Cafe Nova Gawler. Local school and train station collection can be arranged if required.
Who are the Mentors?
Our wonderful Mentors are volunteers from the community who understand the need for a licence. They are not Driving Instructors, they act as a parent would in guiding the Learner's driving.
Our mentors are vetted, have DCSI clearance and undergo an evaluation from our Driving Instructor, with continued support and guidance.
We have both male and female Mentors.
Can you help me get my P's?
Our Program is there to provide students the opportunity to complete the required 75 hours. We do not provide the Vehicle On Road Test (VORT) or Competency Based Training & Assessment (CBT&A also know as Log Book), the student is financially responsible.
I'm interested in becoming a Mentor, is there a commitment required?
No, we appreciate any time a Mentor can provide to us, whether that be 1 hour a fortnight or 4 hours a week. Schedules are created fortnightly and are extremely flexible.
